FROZEN ICE BUCKET

FROZEN ICE BUCKET

Make a beautiful presentation with this seasonal ice sculpture. Plan ahead and simply unmold right before company arrives. Enjoy!

Ingredients :

  • 3-quart plastic container, such as one from Rubbermaid
  • Sliced citrus fruit
  • Tall (46-to 64-ounce) empty container, such as a 46-ounce can from Dole Pineapple Juice
  • Rocks and/or canned vegetables (for weight)
  • Colorful hearty flowers, stems removed
  • Towel
  • Platter
  • Chilled white or sparkling wine

Method :

Fill 3-quart plastic container with about 1 inch of water. Place a few slices of fruit in the water; arrange some of the fruit around the edge. Place in the freezer until layer is frozen, about 4 hours.

Place tall container in the center of 3-quart container; fill with rocks and/or canned vegetables to weigh it down. Place flowers and fruit in the space between the tall container and plastic container, being certain to arrange flowers facing outward.

Carefully add water, leaving about 2 inches at the top. Place in the freezer until frozen solid, 8 to 10 hours or overnight. Place towel on the platter. Remove 3-quart container from freezer. Remove rocks and/or canned vegetables from tall container; add warm water to tall container; remove container. Run warm water around the outside of the 3-quart container to
release the ice bucket. Transfer to prepared platter. Place chilled wine in ice bucket. Makes 1 ice bucket.

Prep time:
20 minutes
Freeze time: 12 hours

Helpful Hint: If your ice bucket has not completely melted, place it back in the 3-
quart container; add more water, and/or fruit slices and flowers if desired, and freeze
to use again.
