MARBLED EDIBLE BOWLS

A whimsical way to savor dessert, these unique bowls will be surefire winners at your next warm-weather gathering.

Ingredients :

 

  • 6 small balloons
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag white morsels
  • 1 tablespoon butter flavor vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup bright blue vanilla flavored candy wafers
  • Ice cream, berries, or desired filling

Method :


Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Inflate balloons to about the size of a small grapefruit; tie knots to seal. Place morsels in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave morsels according to package directions until melted and smooth; stir in shortening. Place wafers in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave wafers according to package directions until melted and smooth.

Pour into center of melted morsels. Using a toothpick, start in the center of the blue wafers and drag toothpick outward about 5 times to slightly blend with the white morsels. Dip about the bottom third of the balloon in the center of the melted mixture and gently rotate balloon to blend colors, making sure it’s evenly coated. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.


Repeat with the remaining balloons. Let stand until firm, about 2 hours. Using the tip of a sharp knife, puncture the tops of balloons; carefully remove them from the bowls. Fill with ice cream, berries, or desired filling.
Makes 6 edible bowls.
